Purpose

The planning of infrastructure, which this module considers in detail, is one of the core activities of the planning process, and indeed one of the principal justifications for planning. Without proper consideration of the infrastructure needs of society, planning is worthless.

Benefits

Infrastructure planning is a key part of community planning. Building on dialogue established with infrastructure providers in the community planning process, a dialogue with providers can be continued in the local plan process and carried forward as needed into development control.

An action list which offers detailed guidelines on the infrastructure planning process and a six step action plan. Additionally a comprehensive range of further reading is provided for those who wish to become expert in the subject.
