Purpose

An environmental management system (EMS) enables an organisation to control, measurably, their environmental impacts. Although environmental audits and reviews allow you to understand their environmental impacts, a recognised management system provides a structure to get things done and reduce those impacts continually.

Benefits

Planners have an influential role in protecting our environment, not only in being able to protect the environment from the impacts of development, but also in taking control of the environmental impacts of the organisations for whom they work.

Audience

Urban and regional planners and all those wishing to build and assess their knowledge of the topic.

Learning method

A knowledge builder which provides explanatory background, key terms, context and planning relevance with links to relevant websites.
