PurposeThis knowledge builder looks at the background to community strategies and the relationship to the planning system. |
BenefitsIn principle community strategies are a critical, overarching strategy for planners and planning authorities. In practice, they have not become the coordinating document that was originally envisaged. LDFs have, on the whole, been drawn up with RSSs and PPSs in mind rather than community strategies. Nevertheless, recent changes through LAAs and the Government’s continued commitment mean that planners still need to be aware of them and their significance. |
