PurposeThis knowledge builder considers the application of principles of environmental justice in Scotland. Environmental justice is becoming increasingly important since it highlights how environmental problems impact differently on different groups, for instance with some aspects of pollution impacting particularly on low-income groups, and therefore intensifying social exclusion. |
BenefitsPlanners deal in policy and implementation activity, which leads to distributive impacts, and notions of environmental justice can inform policy development and also explain how government policy can link to spatial planning policy. |
